Transmission Physician have undertaken several car restoration projects including a 1974 Torana damaged in a front end collision, a classic 1966 Falcon Coupe and a 1981 Holden which was rebuilt for off-road and rally racing.

If you are in the Hornsby area and are undertaking a car restoration project, Transmission Physician can assist you with fabrication and welding.

1974 LH Torana

Old car restoration of a badly damaged 1974 Torana by Transmission Physician. This meek little car restoration project was 12 years in the building. Resurrected from a bad front end collision, in which the body wasn't in too bad a shape at all.

It boasts a highly developed 202 cubic inch motor with a VL 4 speed automatic transmission and lock up torque converter (the bell housing was grafted and engineered in house).

Final cost at a total of $16500 (which is quite affordable for a new car).

1966 Classic Restoration Falcon XP Coupe

Antique car restoration of a 1966 Falcon Coupe. A fine restoration of a classic 1966 Falcon Coupe.

The original 6 cylinder 170 cubic inch heart was replaced with a mild 302 windsor V8. Keeping the theme automatic (of course) the three speed borg warner was exchanged to an industrial C4 three speed with a 2,200 stall torque connector.

All of the interior and exterior colours are original, including rims and tyres. We even went to the trouble of keeping it column shift with the original shifter.

When the bonnet was closed no one would even know there was a 240hp V8 under the hood.

1981 Commodore Holden Racing Car

Racing car restoration undertaken by Transmission Physician. Built from a 1981 Holden VC commodore this car took 14 months to build, 17 days to prepare and paint and then 3 days to assemble. It has a 254 hp 255 foot pounds of torque 2 wheel drive 202 red / blue motor Autronic fuel injection by quick fit motor sport and mallory dual spark ignition system. Hand made mandrel equal length extractors roller cam shaft and lifters with roller rockers bored only 0.030 of an inch oversize, crank shaft was standard throw.

A ceramic coating was used on a lot of parts such as pistons, intake and exhaust ports, intake manifold and extractors. MacPherson strut front end control arms were built in house (strut shaft diameter was 2 inches) independent rear end out of a VR Calais, Porsche 930 CV joints and a hand built Supra 5 speed gear box, using after market high performance gears (by the way 5th gear is 1:1 splitting the first 4 gears no overdrive).

In its first season in 2002 it won its very first race as well as being the NSW championship in class 5 off road racing.
